What is a Bolo Tie? (You Don’t Wanna Know)

I have to get this off my chest because I don’t hear enough people mocking this ridiculous “accessory” called a ‘bolo tie’. A bolo tie is considered a type of neck tie which is often associated with western wear or cowboy attire. At some point in your life (unfortunately), you have probably seen a man wearing a piece of shoe string around his neck, with some type of medallion or ornament strategically placed in the middle, and sometimes accompanied by a shiny metallic face plate. Remember this? Well yes, that wonderful item is called a bolo tie. I’m sure you always wanted finish the sentence: “that is a ridiculous blank“, but you could never think of the word to describe it. Well now you know that this pathetic, bootleg piece of string is actually considered a tie. *burying my head in my hands thinking of the bolo tie*

I don’t really care to learn any more about this piece of flare jewelry, but I will use this opportunity to let everyone know that as much as I mock the bolo tie, or the comb over, or mens speedo’s, or mullets, the truth is that I completely ADMIRE those people out there who go out in public wearing this nonsense. The reason being is that they really DON’T CARE what people think about them (or they’re in denial). But either way, I say more power to them. These folks are much more brave than I, and apparently less self-conscious too, because I would not be caught dead wearing a bolo tie, or having a comb over for that matter (if I was bald, I would shave it). But there goes my ego again……
